Ironclad Footage Released

13 Jan

Here is a movie that is creating some buzz. Ironclad is a British/American collaboration film with a cast that includes Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Mackenzie Crook, Jason Flemying, Derek Jacobi and Kate Mara. The story tells of a “ragtag” group of Knights Templar who try and hold out for months in the siege of Rochester Castle in the thirteenth Century – the time of King John’s signing of the Magna Carta treaty, the group struggles against the King to defend the freedom of their country.

Not sure what to think from that trailer, looks pretty cool – but only two weeks into production, who knows how this story could go. I do like this though:

A full-sized castle set was built on the studio complex. Producer Rick Benattar is striving to make the film as historically accurate as possible, recreating the violent siege of Rochester Castle, and letting viewers experience the battle as if they were there.

Your Next Big Band: Dan Black

13 Jan

Maybe you recognize the name Dan Black, but aren’t sure where you heard it from. Well he used to be in the band The Servant, until their split in 2007 (was upset about that one). The Servant got their exposure in America with the trailer to Sin City, in which their song “Cells” was used. Well after their split – Dan Black decided he could still make music with his distinct voice. So Dan Black dumped his old band, moved to Paris and started recording solo with a laptop.

Dan Black has two singles released right now – “Alone” and “Yours” – both from 2008. His breakthrough song was “HYPNTZ”, a mashup of Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (mp3 after the jump!) He gained further popularity in 2009 when album track “U + Me =” was chosen as the iTunes Store’s Free Single of the Week.

More after the jump (with an mp3!)
