Here is a movie that is creating some buzz. Ironclad is a British/American collaboration film with a cast that includes Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Mackenzie Crook, Jason Flemying, Derek Jacobi and Kate Mara. The story tells of a “ragtag” group of Knights Templar who try and hold out for months in the siege of Rochester Castle in the thirteenth Century – the time of King John’s signing of the Magna Carta treaty, the group struggles against the King to defend the freedom of their country.
Not sure what to think from that trailer, looks pretty cool – but only two weeks into production, who knows how this story could go. I do like this though:
A full-sized castle set was built on the studio complex. Producer Rick Benattar is striving to make the film as historically accurate as possible, recreating the violent siege of Rochester Castle, and letting viewers experience the battle as if they were there.
