Thirsty Thursdays: Game Day is coming

22 Apr

So it’s been a while since I last posted anything but, every once in a while, something so amazing comes along, so daring, so awesome, that I just have to let the world know about it. Yes, this is about the yet to hit the shelves, 7-11 store brand premium lager beer.

Comparable in taste and quality to the top-selling national brand beers, Game Day is available in two varieties – Light and Ice – and two package sizes – 24-ounce singles and a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans. Suggested retail price is between $6.99 and $8.99 for a 12-pack, and $1.49 and $1.89 for a single. Prices vary based on distribution costs and state and local alcohol beverage taxes.

For just a buck-fifty you could get two beers, in one can! That beats going to happy hour any day.

Just so you know how serious we are about this new premium larger, we followed up with 7-11 to see how quickly our cheap asses could get our hands on it. Margaret Chabris from 7-11 Inc. informed the Kibitzers that Game Day Light and Game Day Ice are anticipated to be available to order in Northern Virginia on April 26th, and 7-11s will have Game Day in stock by April 28th.

Not in Northern Virginia on the 28th? According to the press release, Game Day Light and Game Day Ice are expected to be for sale in more than 4,500 7-Eleven stores (those that sell full-strength beer) in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois*, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Texas,* Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia*.

*As of April 19, 2010, Game Day will be available at participating 7-Eleven stores in Texas, West Virginia and Illinois, pending approval from these states’ alcohol beverage control commissions/boards.

Heads up Natural Light!

Your Thursday Mixtape – Vol I

22 Apr

If there’s one thing that we love here – it’s music. New music seems to come out every single day – and after our Monday Music Madness weekly, what are you supposed to do the rest of the work week? Well you can listen to these tracks on here (and then go buy their album and support the artists!). I will try to keep it eclectic; dance, rap, indie, etc. This is a way for you to discover new music, reminisce about your childhood music, or just listen to get through the day.

The Cataracs are a band from California, they are 2 white guys who have a dancey/hip hop sound to them. In this track, they cover and take “Ice Cream Paint Job” to an acoustic style. [iTunes]

Deluka are a British electro/rock four piece from Birmingham. This track is extremely catchy and is dominated by synths throughout it. [Amazon]

The Kid Daytona is a new up and coming rapper from Brooklyn. Up tempo beats are throughout his tracks. Head over to his site and download the full mixtape for free!
