Monday Music Madness: “2012 (feat. Nicki Minaj)” – Jay Sean & “Just the Way You Are” – Bruno Mars

2012 (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Jay Sean

I remember hearing “Down” and instantly liking it. The I remember hearing “Do You Remember”, and thinking to myself, “This song is decent, but he could do better.” Well apparently, Jay Sean ‘heard’ me. First of all, this song is extremely catchy. I was immediately bobbing my head when I first pressed play after finding this song. Secondly, he teamed up with Nicki Minaj (who has two other songs on this week’s Monday Music Madness) the hottest female rapper right now. So take those two together and assume that Jay Sean’s favorite movie is 2012, and you get a guaranteed hit. So check out your Doomsday Clock and listen “2012″.:

Just the Way You Are – Bruno Mars

In the mainstream music world, there is a simple formula that an artist must abide by in order to produce a hit. Rap verse + pop chorus = radio hit. Two of today’s biggest hits, Nothing On You by B.o.B. and Billionaire By Travie McCoy, featured Bruno Mars. “Just the Way You Are” is one of those songs that has the big possibility to make you say “awwh” (Isn’t that a remix to Master P. song?) and will probably appeal more to women. I personally like Bruno Mars’ singing voice so I like this single. He’s also Filipino, so we people have to stick together. Check “Just the Way You Are” and repeat after me, “Awwwwwh”:

Bonus

Your Love – Nicki Minaj

As I mentioned, Nicki Minaj is the hottest female rapper at this time. She seriously reminds me of a female Ludacris. I mean just listen to her – her flow and the random voices she does while she’s rapping is very Ludacris indeed. I found this song when I was making the 90′s Power Hour last week. Although I can’t stand the original song, “No More ‘I Love You’s'” by Annie Lennox, “Your Love” is easier on the ears and will probably be a hit on the radio. Nicki switches it up in this song, singing the hook and taking it easy on the voices. So check it out and good luck trying to get the “Dooby dooby doop doop doop, ahhh” out of your head.:

Bottoms Up (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Trey Songz

You know, aside from ‘Just Gotta Make It’ and ‘Say Aah’, I don’t know any other song that Trey Songz has sungz. Maybe they just never make it on Top 40 radio stationz or something, but even though he’z popular, none of hiz songz are, weird. Anyway, thiz song iz actually pretty catchy. And surprize surprize Nicki Minaj killz her verze. God I love thoze dumb voicez she doez. Iz she required to steal the show everytime she’z featured? So grab your drank and head on over to the dance floor and listen to “Bottoms Up.” DRINKZ ALL AROUND!:

Like this song? Be sure to check out his upcoming album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, dropping this September.

Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

Back in May, we featured the first single off of Katy Perry‘s, upcoming album Teenage Dream. You might have heard of it, it’s called “California Gurls.” Recently, she released her second song off of the same album, and well, in my opinion, we might have another hit here folks. It’s not as poppy as “California Gurls,” but instead it’s more of a combination of the old “rocker” style of her first album and the new “pop sound” that she seems to be going for with this album. So check “Teenage Dream” and see if you like it.
