A while back, a coworker and I were chatting about awesome war movies and how ridiculous they are right before they charge to battle. We instantly thought of ‘Troy‘ with the ‘BAAAYYAHHHHH!’ and ‘The Two Towers‘ with ‘TO WAR!’ So we came up with the idea for a super-cut of every ancient period war movie we could think of that had such scenes. Andrew did the work and put together this epic mashup…enjoy the seven minutes of war.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you’re wearing green today, or else a leprechaun will steal your toothbrush. I clearly don’t know anything about Irish folklore, but I do know a thing or two about drinks. Anyone can make “Green Beer”. So why not try something else? Here are a couple of unique drinks to make while you’re singing your Irish Drinking Songs on St. Patty’s Day.
Emerald Isle Cocktail
1 oz Gin
1 tsp Green Crème de Menthe
2 Dashes bitters
Directions
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled
with ice cubes
Shake well
Strain into a chilled
cocktail glass
Notes on a Napkin
A dash or two of bitters does help the drink considerably. Mint bitters is an equally nice compliment. This will give The Emerald Isle a minty gin cocktail taste that’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day.
To be honest, I was not a huge fan of “Hold It Against Me”.” It was ok when it first came out, then after a while, it just got old. Britney Spears’ new song, however, is a song I don’t mind listening to. “Till the World Ends” is not a song about the end of the world; in fact, there’s nothing apocalyptic about it. In fact, it almost sounds like something from a Brazilian carnival; or as someone put it, a soccer match — a very gay soccer match. The anthem-y sound of this song is what makes it catchy. “Woooaaaaaaooohhhh” hasn’t been this catchy since “Zombie Nation”. Chances are you’ve heard this song before, but there’s no reason why we can’t make sure we have it just in case you didn’t. So check out “Till the World Ends”, and if you’re wondering, yes, this song is better than Lady Gaga’s song:
Like this song? Check out Brit Brit’s new album, Femme Fatale, dropping March 29th.
It sucks that there’s a big chance there won’t be a 2011 NFL season. It’s hard to think about what we’d we do without football distracting us for a couple of hours on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Audio Push, or “The Push,” has managed to take all of that and make a song that sounds like it’s supposed to be about football, but is actually about big ‘ol butts. Sneaky, sneaky. They’ve already provided me with one of my favorite songs (and dance moves) “Teach Me How to Jerk” and it seems like they’ve given me another song to party to. There’s a certain flow to their raps and a distinct Cali-inspired sound to their beats that makes me like them. So try to do the reject and check out “Throw It Back”:
Like this song? Their interestingly titled freshman album, Broadies Over Woadies, will be dropping soon-ish.
Many of you I’m sure watch the amazing tv show ‘Community’ and will recognize Donald Glover as the funny guy in the show. Well he also has another side that he takes extremely seriously — his rap career. The other day he released this music video below (vulgar):
While I had heard his music before and liked it, this track blew me away and I was instantly interested in his next project — which he released today for free via his site. So if you looking for new music that is actually good, go and download his music and support his second career. He will also be coming to The Black Cat here in DC, however tickets are already sold out. I’ll be sure to write a review for you!
So first The Rock came back, and that was incredible, now Stone Cold Steve Austin returns?! (signing on to be a guest referee at WrestleMania XXVII, which I’m POSITIVE will be reffed fair!) It’s clear the WWE is just trying to bank off the past and get even more viewers. Either way, it’s a great marketing scheme, because it definitely peaked my interest in wrestling again. And I mean, who doesn’t love watching Stone Cold make a guy cry, stun them, then pour beer all over their face???
I came across this image while I was browsing one of my new favorite Tumblrs, Sunsurfer — which basically posts amazing photos from around the world throughout the day. Anyways, I wish I had this tree house. It also got me thinking that a tree house would make for an amazing bar atmosphere. But then I thought alcohol and heights usually do not go well together. Could be a cool restaurant at least. Thoughts? Investors?
