2011 NFL Week Two Predictions

16 Sep

The Kibitzers after their first week of picks

Ok, I’ll be the first to admit that the first predictions post was a bit…. incomplete, obviously, but it’s our first week too (or some other lame unacceptable excuse). Also, while I’m blabbering, those Thursday games really mess me up when I’m trying to write this.

Anyway, I got an early start and there’s not a Thursday game, so no excuses this week. Onward and upwards… on……wards…

(Psst… more after the jump!)

NFL Conference Championship Predictions

22 Jan

Greg’s Playoff Record: (5-3)

Sunday, 3pm, FOX:

Green Bay Packers AT Chicago Bears

Greg’s Pick: Chicago Bears. Everything is telling me to pick the Packers, but I just can’t for some reason. Even if I picked the winner of the Eagles/Packers game to go to the Superbowl way back when. I think this game is going to be great to watch and I am really looking forward to it. I just feel like the Bears are being disrespected, coming in at home, against a #6 seed, and not being favored? Look for the Bears to play with a similar chip on their shoulder as the Jets did last week (jerks).

Sunday, 6:30pm, CBS:

New York Jets AT Pittsburgh Steelers

Greg’s Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers. I really don’t want either team in the Superbowl, but there will be. The last time these two teams faced each other, the Steelers were pretty banged up — aka Polamalu was out. Now he’s back and the Steelers seem to have figured out some form of an offense. As a Patriots fan, do I want to see Big Ben go to a third Superbowl to start the Brady comparisons? No. But do I want to see a AFC East rival go, validating their trash talk? No, although Shaughnessy does bring up some good points. Both of these teams don’t really know how to score a lot of points. Now I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this game will not be close, the Steelers will roll over the over-confident Jets, call me crazy…

NFL Wild Card Weekend Playoff Predictions

8 Jan

Saturday January 8, 4:30p EST – NBC

New Orleans Saints AT Seattle Seahawks

Greg’s Pick: New Orleans Saints. You know part of me wants to pick the Seahawks, they’re at home (12th man), nothing is expected of them, and they’ll be playing on high emotion. But I just cannot do it. Last time these two teams met, the Saints destroyed them – since then, the Saints have gotten healthier and better, the Seahawks are just about the same.

New York Jets AT Indianapolis Colts

Greg’s Pick: Indianapolis Colts. Can we just end this Jets to the Superbowl talk already? The Colts had to win 4 straight games just to get here, while the Jets are limping in, literally. I expect this to be a close game, but the Jets offense will once again doom their season.

Sunday January 9, 1:00pm EST, CBS:

Baltimore Ravens AT Kansas City Chiefs

Greg’s Pick: Baltimore Ravens. As much as I really want the Chiefs to win – the Ravens do this every year, go on the road and win the first game, they thrive off of this environment. I think the game will be tight and will come down to the final drive though, in which the Ravens defense will hold up.

4:30pm EST, FOX:

Green Bay Packers AT Philadelphia Eagles

Greg’s Pick: Green Bay Packers. This is the toughest game I had to pick this weekend. Both teams are very good and I think the winner of this game will go to the Superbowl. I am picking the Packers strictly because I think they have a better defense and allow far fewer points than the Eagles do.

NFL Week 15 Predictions

18 Dec

Last Week: Greg 11-5 (86-50)   Genesis 9-7 (80-56)   Andrew 10-6 (46-32)

1pm Games Sunday:

Kansas City Chiefs AT St Louis Rams

Greg’s Pick: Kansas City Chiefs. As well as the Rams play at home, with Cassel back, I have to go with the Chiefs, especially in a must win situation to keep the Chargers back.

Gen’s pick: Kansas City Chiefs. As much as I want to give the Rams the advantage, since they have a much more experienced RB, the Chiefs pretty much have perfected their running game. I don’t know if the Rams will be able to contain them.

Buffalo Bills AT Miami Dolphins

Greg’s Pick: Miami Dolphins. I really don’t know who could win this game, but the Buffalo run defense is horrendous, maybe Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams can finally show up?

Gen’s pick: Miami Dolphins. It’s a game nobody cares about so why should I?

Cleveland Browns AT Cincinnati Bengals

Greg’s Pick: Cleveland Browns. The Bengals are on a mission to lose out the entire season it seems.

Gen’s pick: Cleveland Browns. What Greg said.

NFL Week 14 Predictions

9 Dec

Donald Driver with the play of the week (and awesome uniforms)

Last Week: Greg 11-5 (75-45)   Genesis 11-5 (71-49)   Andrew 11-5 (36-26)

Thursday, Dec. 9, 8:20 PM:

Indianapolis Colts AT Tennessee Titans

Andrew’s pick: Indianapolis Colts. Injuries have reduced both of these teams from brutually efficient to mediocre. The Titans have great offensive weapons but no one to pass the ball, whereas the Colts have Peyton Manning but no one to pass it to. Colts win this one but will be on the outside of the playoffs.

Greg’s Pick: Indianapolis Colts. I have picked them every game in this losing streak (minus the Pats) with the same reasoning — surely the Colts couldn’t lose again right?

Gen’s pick: Indianapolis Colts. Seriously, I don’t know what’s going on with this team. Hopefully they’ll use the discombobulated Titans as a stepping stone towards the right, and winning, direction.

Sunday, Dec. 12, 1:00 PM:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers AT Washington Redskins

Andrew’s pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Redskins ruin my Sunday week after week. I haven’t really seen anything that looks promising other than Brandon Banks. The Redskins will make the Buccaneers look like the ’07 Patriots (yes, when the Patriots beat the Redskins 52-7).

Greg’s Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And Andrew is depressed. LOOK WHAT YOU DID REDSKINS! But yeah, Tampa will win.

Gen’s pick: Washington Redskins. Because I’m an idiot.

NFL Week 13 Predictions

2 Dec

Last Week: Greg 10-3 (64-40)   Genesis 8-5 (60-44)   Andrew DNF (25-21)

Thursday Night Football: 8:20pm

Houston Texans AT Philadelphia Eagles

Andrew’s pick: Philadelphia Eagles. The Texans can’t stop anyone from passing on them, and the way Vick has been slinging the pig skin, you know he’s going to have a big day.

Greg’s Pick: Philadelphia Eagles. After looking sloppy last week against the Bears, Vick goes up against one of the worst passing defenses in the league. Look for Andre Johnson to be back in full force redemption mode! Could be a shoot out game!

Gen’s pick: Philadelphia Eagles. Although they had that surprising loss last week against the hot and cold Bears, the Eagles will bounce back agains the Texans. Although the Texans are a strong team, I think the Eagles will be just a little better this time around.

Sunday Football: 1:00pm games

Buffalo Bills AT Minnesota Vikings

Andrew’s pick: Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have had a talented team all year, but it seems as though they weren’t trying to play for Tobias anymore (although the Redskins can make anyone look good just ask that punk Matthew Stafford). With Favre playing the way he wants, he should be able to stay ahead of the poor Bills.

Greg’s Pick: Minnesota Vikings. Sure the Bills have been in just about every game and should have beat the Steelers last week, but this game is at Minnesota, so I’ll take the home team.

Gen’s pick: Minnesota Vikings. The Bills? I mean, they could beat the Vikings, but I don’t think they will. And that’s about…it…

NFL Week 12 Predictions

28 Nov

Last Week: Greg 9-6 (54-37)    Genesis: 11-4 (52-39)    Andrew DNF (25-21)

Week 12: 1pm Games

Jacksonville Jaguars AT New York Giants

Greg’s Pick: New York Giants. Although both teams are pretty inconsistent, but I think that the Giants are the better team here…

Gen’s pick: New York Giants. Back to back divisional games have not been kind to the G-men. The Jags seem to rely strictly on their running game, so we’ll see if the Giants’ defense can stop the run.

Pittsburgh Steelers AT Buffalo Bills

Greg’s Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the Bills have played well and showed a lot of heart coming back and dismantling the Bengals, the Steelers are too much coming into town.

Gen’s pick: Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bills, coming off of an impressive two win streak! (yes, that’s loaded with so much sarcasm) will find themselves overwhelmed by the Steelers’ offense and defense. Nom nom nom for Ben Rapistburger and his team.

Minnesota Vikings AT Washington Redskins

Greg’s Pick: Minnesota Vikings. Maybe I’m just banking on the Vikings playing better/pumped for a new coach they love, or maybe I’m just crazy. Both these teams are having some internal issues — should be an interesting game though.

Gen’s pick: Washington Redskins. Rumor has it Favre called Jay Cutler and challenged him. He apparently said that he can throw more interceptions to DeAngelo Hall this week than Cutler’s 4 when the Skins played the Bears. Cutler hung up the phone, put on his fitted cap, and cried. Favre hung up the phone and took a pic of his wang.

Carolina Panthers AT Cleveland Browns

Greg’s Pick: Cleveland Browns. The Browns are still playing well and man o man they should’ve beat the Jets! But I mean, the Panther’s quarterback was a stay at home Dad two weeks ago, what can you expect from this team? Nothing.

Gen’s pick: Cleveland Browns. The doo doo Browns won against really good teams, then almost won against the Jags. I don’t think they will be bothered too much by the disorganized/awful team that is the Panthers.

NFL 2010: Week Eleven Predictions

20 Nov

Ouch.

Last week: Greg (9-5)  -  Genesis (6-8)  -  Andrew (DNF)

Week 11: 1pm games

Buffalo Bills AT Cincinnati Bengals

Greg’s Pick: Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills have won their first game (per my prediction!) and the Bengals have lost like 6 in a row or something? Either way, the Bengals are the better team and finally end the streak.
Gen’s pick: Cincinnati Bengals. I keep trying to pull for this team, but gosh, their lackluster performances are not helping.

Oakland Raiders AT Pittsburgh Steelers

Greg’s Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers. Following a beat down from the Pats last week, the Steelers will come out focused — even if the Raiders are ‘all hands on deck’ for this game.
Gen’s pick: Pittsburgh Steelers. As much as I want to see a random team like Oakland beat Pittsburgh, I’m going to have to think with my brain and not my heart here and say Ben the Rapist and the rest of the Stillers are going to win.

Arizona Cardinals AT Kansas City Chiefs

Greg’s Pick: Kansas City Chiefs. I still don’t like/care about the Cardinals. Their offense is just horrendous. Going up a young fast Chiefs defense could make this game ugly, especially at home.

Gen’s pick: Kansas City Chiefs. After they said bye bye to Kurt Warner, the Cards just doesn’t seem to have the same umph to their offense they had that one year they went to the Super Bowl (accidentally). So I’m going with the other team here, boss.

Keep reading for the rest of the picks!

NFL 2010: Week Ten Predictions

13 Nov

Baltimore Ravens AT Atlanta Falcons: NFL Network – 8:20pm

Greg’s Pick: Baltimore Ravens. The Falcons want to make a statement, this is one of their first primetime games, however the Ravens seem to be clicking right now. The offense is finally moving the ball, and the defense gets Ed Reed back. Plus Roddy White is still suffering from his injury which could be a factor.

Gen’s pick: Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons never lose at home. Plus, GA is the primary location of my favorite TV at the moment, The Walking Dead.

Sunday, November 14 1pm Games:

Detroit Lions AT Buffalo Bills

Greg’s Pick: Buffalo Bills. Every week they come closer and closer to victory, only to end up with yet another heart breaking loss. Well this is the week – a banged up Shaun Hill at QB for the Lions will make a few mistakes leading to the Bills first victory of the year!

Gen’s pick: Detroit Lions. After a heartbreaking loss (thanks to Suh attempting to kick a field goal…) to the Jets, the Lions will come back strong against a weak Bills team. I don’t thin Stafford being out will affect the outcome of the game because seriously, who’s even on the Bills?

Carolina Panthers AT Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Greg’s Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Tampa wants to get back into the ‘best in the NFC’ discussion, they have to beat the teams they’re supposed to beat.

Gen’s pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After getting blown out of the water last week against he Saints, I doubt the Panthers will have what it takes to go back and win against someone in their division.

Minnesota Vikings AT Chicago Bears

Greg’s Pick: Minnesota Vikings. The Bears seem to be in a free fall on the field, while the Vikings are in their own free fall off the field. Even though the players clearly hate Childress (because he is an awful coach) – the talent is there to succeed. Just hand the ball off to AP!

Gen’s pick: Minnesota Vikings. Yes, Favre is still struggling at times and the Vikings, much like the Cowboys, seem to be having some kind of mutiny against their coach, but, the Vikings have better talent to work with. I expect more sacks for Cutler this week. Tell me how dat sack taste?!

NFL 2010: Week Six Predictions

17 Oct

Well, another interesting week in the NFL has come and gone. Somebody guess how many Greg got right last week #LAWLZ@Idontunderstandtwitter. I bet he wishes he hasn’t gone back and tallied up the scores. Also, we’re not including Genesis’s from last week because he’s a cheater.

Idiots.

Sunday, Oct. 17 1:00 PM:

Cleveland Browns AT Pittsburgh Steelers – Ben Roethlisberger is making his return to the field against a Browns team that sacked him eight times the last time he played them. But the real story here is Colt McCoy making his start against the hardest defense in the NFL. That’ll be a confidence booster! Eric Mangini will probably just ease McCoy into the game by running the wildcat and making Joshua Cribbs do everything on offense. Again.

Andrew’s pick – Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns have to overcome terrible coaching and their own issues before can even begin to try to beat the Steelers.

Greg’s Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers. With Big Ben back and the Brown struggling to find some form of offense with Colt McCoy starting, I just can’t pick them.

Gen’s pick – Pittsburgh Steelers. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I AM NOT A CHEAT! Anyway, it’s Big Ben Rapisthambuger’s first game back and I think he’ll come out harder than ever. He won’t take no for an answer. He’ll take advantage of his situation and try to make something out of nothing. Rapist.

Detroit Lions AT New York Giants - The Lions are coming off a dominating win over St. Louis, but it was the Lions first win and against the Rams so it’s not all that impressive. Shaun Hill is in for Matt Stafford still, and although Hill hasn’t played that poorly, he will certainly have a tough time against New York’s tought defensive front. Speaking of the Giant, they are also coming off two impressive wins over the Bears and the Texans.  The biggest question for the Giants remains which Eli Manning will show up to lead the Giants offense.

Andrew’s pick – New York Giants. Maybe if the Lions were at home this game would be more of a toss-up but on the road against the tough Giants defense will be really tough to overcome.

Greg’s pick – New York Giants. So are the Giants good again?

Gen’s pick – New York Giants. Forest Gump and the rest of the Giants should be able to handle the Lions.
