Monday Music Madness: “Save the World” – Swedish House Mafia & “Don’t Wanna Go Home” – Jason Derülo

6 Jun

Summer is here! Well sort of. Although it might not be officially Summer yet, the songs that are coming out make it sound like Summer is in full swing. Here are some songs that you might’ve missed over the past couple of weeks!

Save the World (feat. John Martin) – Swedish House Mafia

House music and Europe?? Who would’ve thunk it!? Just kidding, everyone thunk it because, let’s face it, when you think of bass thumping electro music, you can’t help but think of a sweaty night club in Europe. Swedish House Mafia would definitely be played in said sweaty clubs. This group of Swedish DJ’s, yes, they’re actually Swedish, have been producing beats since late 2008. They’ve been associated with such artists as Tinie Tempah and Pharrell. So check out “Save the World” and get this party started right:

Monday Music Madness: “Top of the World (feat. Dev)” – The Cataracs & “Love 2 Baby” – Christian TV

Top of the World (feat. Dev) – The Cataracs

The sun is out. It’s going to be at least 80 degrees here in DC. Summer is right around the corner. So what does that mean? Party songs – loud bass and 808 drum beats, synthesized melodies and simple yet catchy hooks. “Top of the World” by The Cataracs and Dev is a great example of what a Summer song should be. Although it’s been out for a while, this song has yet to hit the airwaves. The Cataracs and Dev have been featured on this blog before, but I think this is their most fun and best song I’ve heard. With The Cataracs laying down verses and providing the beat and Dev providing the hook, they’ve created another hit. In fact, I don’t understand why they’re just not one group. Anyway, forget your allergies and spring right into Summer with “Top of the World.”:

Monday Music Madness: Mixtape Vol. 2

14 Mar

I felt bad for not posting for a while, so here’s a bunch of songs you might’ve missed!

Till the World Ends – Britney Spears

To be honest, I was not a huge fan of “Hold It Against Me”.” It was ok when it first came out, then after a while, it just got old. Britney Spears’ new song, however, is a song I don’t mind listening to. “Till the World Ends” is not a song about the end of the world; in fact, there’s nothing apocalyptic about it. In fact, it almost sounds like something from a Brazilian carnival; or as someone put it, a soccer match — a very gay soccer match. The anthem-y sound of this song is what makes it catchy. “Woooaaaaaaooohhhh” hasn’t been this catchy since “Zombie Nation”. Chances are you’ve heard this song before, but there’s no reason why we can’t make sure we have it just in case you didn’t. So check out “Till the World Ends”, and if you’re wondering, yes, this song is better than Lady Gaga’s song:

Throw It Back – Audio Push

It sucks that there’s a big chance there won’t be a 2011 NFL season. It’s hard to think about what we’d we do without football distracting us for a couple of hours on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Audio Push, or “The Push,” has managed to take all of that and make a song that sounds like it’s supposed to be about football, but is actually about big ‘ol butts. Sneaky, sneaky. They’ve already provided me with one of my favorite songs (and dance moves) “Teach Me How to Jerk” and it seems like they’ve given me another song to party to. There’s a certain flow to their raps and a distinct Cali-inspired sound to their beats that makes me like them. So try to do the reject and check out “Throw It Back”:

Like this song? Their interestingly titled freshman album, Broadies Over Woadies, will be dropping soon-ish.

Monday Music Madness: “International Love” – Pitbull & “E.T.” – Katy Perry

International Love (feat. Chris Brown) – Pitbull

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Pitbull switches it up here is back with another dance track. Here he talks about flying all around the world and spreading love and dance, much like a Latino Santa. Latino Santa is joined on the track by Chris Brown. Now, I appreciate that he’s trying to make a comeback. With Yeah x3 and being featured on other songs, he’s on his way to making that possible. But, will he ever be as big as he was before that fateful night? No – and I’m ok with that. So check out “International Love”:

Like this song? Check out El Santa’s new album Planet Pit, dropping in March 2011.

Monday Music Madness: “Hit the Lights” – Jay Sean & “He Won’t Go” – Adele

7 Feb

Hit The Lights (feat. Lil Wayne) – Jay Sean

After he released “2012 (It Ain’t the End)“, I thought that Jay Sean had another hit that would be overplayed on the radio. Now, although this song made it big in the UK, it only made it to #31 on the US Billboard Charts. Looks like this ol’ broad can be wrong sometimes. Well it looks like this new song might be a little more successful. “Hit the Lights” is a new song with a very catchy beat, addicting hook , and a smooth verse laid down by Lil Wayne. Check out “Hit the Lights” below:

Like this song? Lookout for Jay Sean’s new album, Freeze Time, dropping February 22nd.

Monday Music Madness: “Party Rock Anthem” – LMFAO & “Walk Away (feat. B.o.B.)” – The Script

Party Rock Anthem (feat. Lauren Bennett & Goon Rock) – LMFAO

I’ve always been a fan of these guys. Not only do they look insane and just talk about partying, getting laid, and drinking all the time, but their song “Get Crazy” is the intro to one of my most favorite shows, Jersey Shore. LMFAO, which consists of members Redfoo and SkyBlu, made it big with their hit song of the ’09 Summer “I’m In Miami Bitch” (or Trick depending where you heard it). Along with the ridiculousness that was “Shots” and “Yes,” they’re back with another single that’s, as the titles alludes to, very anthem-y. It’s one of those songs that I wish they’d play at a club or bar and everyone just immediatley gets into it; clapping and dancing wildly. So check out “Party Rock Anthem” and get crazy, get loose:

Monday Music Madness: Mixtape

24 Jan

So, I’ve been gone for a while… sorry about that. But to try to make things better, here’s a mixtape of some songs you might have missed over the past couple of weeks!

Up Against The Wall – Tino Coury

This artist is fairly new to the music scene. Having just released his debut album, Tino Coury, or as I like to call him, Jay Sean vol. 2, got the memo that dance tracks are the way to go. This single is due to debut on the radio in February, but as always, we’re jumping the gun and giving it to you guys ahead of schedule. “Up Against the Wall” is definitely dance-able to and I’d be surprised if it doesn’t blow up in the charts. Look out for Jay Sean vol. 2, the tweens of the world will make this guy popular. Check out “Up Against the Wall”:

Like this song? Check out Tino’s other single, Diary, available now.

On The Floor (feat. Pitbull) – Jennifer Lopez

You know, I wanted to hate this song, but I can’t seem to shake that catchy accordion thing at the beginning and the same melody throughout the track. Stupid catchy accordions (I’M LOOKING AT YOU EDWARD MAYA). Anyway, it seems that Jennifer Lopez is trying to become relevant again. First, she’s a new judge on everyone’s favorite NEW show American Idol (it’s only been like 2 seasons, right?) and now this song. Guess someone was tired of living under Mark Anthony‘s shadow. This is a dance track (go figure) with the aforementioned catchy accordion/melody that gives this song a little bit of European/Brazilian Carnival feel to it. Plus there’s Pitbull aka Mr. EEEEEEOOOO. So check out “On the Floor” and see if the comeback is happening:

Like this song? Be on the lookout for J.Lo’s new album, Love, coming out early this year.

Monday Music Madness: “Buzzin” – Mann & “Bass Down Low (feat. The Cataracs)” – Dev

13 Dec

Buzzin – Mann

It’s been brought to my attention by one of  my fellow blog writers that this decent song by Mann samples Nu Shooz‘s song I Can’t Wait. Yay for the 80′s!! The beat produced by J-J-J-J-J-J.R. Totem is pretty addictive, to tell you the truth. I’m loving the old school feel you get from the beat. The hook is simple enough to get you yelling it by the end of the song and Mann’s got a decent enough flow to make this song radio-play worthy. Although his lyrics aren’t anything new, the song will be a hit if given a chance. Check out “Buzzin’”:

Monday Music Madness: “Tonight (feat. Ludacris)” – Enrique Iglesias & “Price Tag (feat. B.o.B.) – Jessie J

Tonight (feat. Ludacris) – Enrique Iglesias

When I saw that there was a “dirty” version of this song, I thought to myself that it couldn’t be that different than the one I heard. Boy, I was wrong. So we’re sticking with the “clean” version, because it’ll probably be the one played on the radio and it’s just… uh.. well… less awkward. Enrique Iglesias comes out with another club banger and it’s not half bad. It’s your standard falsetto song about women, clubs, dancing, and doing the no-no, but the beat is just so freaking catchy that you can’t help but start-a-dancing. Ludacris is also on the track laying down a couple of lines. So check out “Tonight” below:

Monday Music Madness: “More” – Usher & “Angel” – Akon

29 Nov

More – Usher

Well folks, we have another hit on our hands here. Recently, Usher has established himself to be the dancefloor king by providing us with his current hit DJ Got Us Falling In Love, which has been blowing up the charts and the clubs/bars. His new single, “More,” provides us with more dance fuel. Now I’m not sure if the version below is what’s on his album, because this one sounds more “dance-y,” but I do know for a fact it was produced by RedOne, who’s pretty much provided Lady GaGa with her sound. So don’t get fancy and just get dancy with “More”:
